Walter Becker Net Worth: $50 Million
Walter Becker, the co-founder, guitarist, bassist and co-songwriter for the band Steely Dan, had a net worth of $50 million at the time of his death in 2017 at the age of 67. Over the course of several decades, Steely Dan sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and became one of the most-sampled bands by hip-hop artists.
Becker suffered from numerous personal setbacks, including addiction to narcotics, the death of his girlfriend due to a drug overdose in his apartment, and being hit by a taxi while crossing the street. He turned to a part-time producing career, working with artists such as China Crisis and Rickie Lee Jones, and eventually launched a solo career with the release of his debut album 11 Tracks of Whack in 1994.
After his death, Becker’s widow held an estate sale of his former guitars and amplifiers among other valuables, which brought in more than $3 million.
