Opera Quad Cities will present Sweetheart Soiree tonight (Feb. 23) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th St., Davenport. Jon Schrader will emcee and the featured singer is Chad Sonka, who teaches at Iowa State University. He will sing Some Enchanted Evening and Warm As the Autumn Light.

Opera Quad Cities will present Sweetheart Soiree tonight (Feb. 23) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th St., Davenport.

Jon Schrader will emcee and the featured singer is Chad Sonka, who teaches at Iowa State University. He will sing “Some Enchanted Evening” and “Warm As the Autumn Light.”

Sonka serves as president of the Iowa Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, where his students consistently place at the Regional and National levels. He is also the executive director of the Sherrill Milnes VOICE Programs, which mentor young singers as they begin their careers. 

Other singers tonight will be Rochelle Schrader (Puccini), Karmi Rivera (Saint Saens), Brent Behrens (Schumann), Chelsea Crumbleholme (Bernstein), Emmalynn Tully (Menotti) and Lillian Dawn, who will sing a Rachmaninoff piece in Russian.
