WITH the trend for giant earrings continuing to gain momentum, more and more women are getting earlobe fillers.
But what is the procedure and what does it involve? Here's the lowdown...
What are earlobe fillers?
Women who have fully embraced the Pat Butcher inspired giant earrings have found that over time the heavy jewellery has stretched their earlobes.
In order to combat the sagging lobes, people are opting for earlobe fillers to give them a boost.
The procedure, which is sometimes referred to a 'eartox', is designed to smooth out any deep lines and give the lobe some definition.
In an interview about the new surgery with New Beauty, Kenneth Beer M.D., said: "The collagen of the ear may deteriorate to the point that the earlobe looks flabby and wrinkled.
"In these patients, I inject fillers to restore a more youthful, less shrivelled lobe."
The ears, like the hands and neck, show tell-tale signs of ageing, such as sagging, thing skin and stretched holes.
How does ear plumping work?
When people speak about fillers, they are referring to injections of hyaluronic acid, these plump the area of your face where they are injected.
The non-surgical procedure is used to counter the signs of ageing, like sagging and wrinkles but they’re getting increasingly popular among twenty-somethings and even teens.
Dr Carolyn Berry told The Daily Mail: "The lobe is injected with filler in several areas and inflates, looking ten times better immediately.
"The hydrophilic filler draws fluid into it, which causes further inflation, and makes the tissue appear softer and more hydrated."
How much does the procedure cost?
Dr Melissa Doft, a US plastic surgeon told The Sun that she cahrges between $600 and $800 (£450 to £610), depending on the amount of filler used.
